Vanessa was born in Venezuela and has lived in Central Florida for the past 12 years. She graduated with her Bachelor’s in Science from the University of Central Florida in 2015 and with her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Stetson University in 2018. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, MH 20025 in the state of Florida. Vanessa is a member of the American Counselors Association and the Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society.
Vanessa’s foundational approach to counseling is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and she has received specialized training in Trauma-Focused CBT. Vanessa also incorporates techniques from Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and expressive arts to individualize and maximize each client’s success in therapy.
Vanessa works with adults, teens, and children and provides counseling in both English and Spanish. Her areas of expertise include assisting individuals going through life transitions, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues. She also specializes in working with multi-cultural couples. Clients can expect sessions to be a safe space where they can feel free to explore concerns, learn ways to cope, receive encouragement, empathy, support, and accountability.
Vanessa and her husband live in Winter Garden with their dog, Mercedes. In her free time, Vanessa enjoys traveling around the world, practicing self-care, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
