Shawna Shultz, BA

Shawna Schultz, BS

Shawna is a graduate student intern working on her Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling at Palm Beach Atlantic University. She has her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with a minor in Youth Ministry from Southeastern University. Shawna has twelve years of experience working with children and adolescents, nine of which have been spent working with special needs adolescents and adults. She also has experience in administering and scoring neuropsychological assessments.

During her high school years, Shawna felt led to follow a career in counseling after God had placed the desire on her heart. Having overcome a difficult childhood and adolescence herself, one of Shawna’s biggest passions is using her own story to aide others in their struggles, and comfort them in the knowledge that they are not alone. To Shawna, counseling is more than just a profession, it is a calling.

Shawna's approach is to individualize her treatment according to each client’s needs. She utilizes interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Adlerian Therapy, and Experiential Therapy. She has a passion for children and young people dealing with depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, guilt & shame, trauma, self-esteem issues, and chronic illness/pain.

Shawna has been happily married since 2014, and currently serves alongside her husband, who is the youth director at a church in Clermont. She loves Disney and spending time with her dog, who she has aptly named Pavlov after the behaviorist, Ivan Pavlov. She enjoys volunteering at her church through outreaches and the children’s ministry.
