Summer is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern #IMT12946 with the State of Florida. She earned her Masters degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. During her time working in private practice and in a residential treatment center, Summer has helped children, adolescents, adults, and couples. She has experience treating issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, trauma, sexual abuse, ADHD and addictions as well as marital, parenting and relationship struggles.
Summer believes that the power of healing change and the discovery of one’s God given value and purpose is a gift accessible to every individual. She emphasizes connected and accepting relationships as the primary path to healing. When working with children, she believes that play is a child’s primary language and is an essential part of healing and development. Summer believes that early intervention is important for lifelong wellness and she aims to provide a safe and comfortable place for children to creatively explore their feelings and behaviors, develop healthy coping mechanisms and work out struggles and challenges. Summer utilizes play therapy, art therapy, client-centered therapies and coaching tools designed to promote healing, enhance relationships and empower enduring life-change. Summer is a member of the Association for Play Therapy.
Summer shares life with her husband of 20 years, and their three children. As a resident of Winter Garden, she and her family love exploring their hometown, beaches, and theme parks. Summer also enjoys coffee, traveling, reading and spending time with friends.
