Dr. Nicci Santana is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor MH#14077 and was first licensed as a counselor (LPC) in Oklahoma in 1999. She has experience working with individuals, couples and families including children and teens and has worked in a variety of clinical settings throughout her career including inpatient and residential eating disorders programs, schools, community counseling centers and private practices. Dr. Santana earned her B.A. in psychology at the University of Tulsa in 1996 and her M.S. in community counseling at Oklahoma State University in 1998. She went on to earn her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, CA in 2006.
Dr. Santana began her career working in an inpatient eating disorders program facilitating individual, group and family counseling while also teaching psychology at a community college. She is also experienced in working with clients with anxiety, depression, anger, relationship issues, parenting issues, grief, spiritual concerns and self-esteem and body image issues. She has experience working in schools serving students from K-12th grade assisting them with their social and emotional needs and any classroom accommodations they may need so they can focus and learn better in the classroom. She also has experience personally with homeschooling her own children.
Dr. Santana's treatment approaches each client as a unique individual with a unique story and is client-centered, relational, solution-focused and/or cognitive behaviorally oriented depending on what is needed for the individual client. Dr. Santana has a strong Christian faith and believes that God cares greatly for the hearts of his people and in the power of healing through connected relationships. She believes that we can hold onto the promises of God and trust that he has plans for us and they are good (Jeremiah 29:11).
Dr. Santana was previously married has two children. She has walked through the pain and brokenness of divorce, however greatly honors and esteems God's design, plan and sanctity of the marriage relationship. She has seen firsthand how God brings beauty from ashes and how trusting him to redeem our stories and resting in his strength is a great source of comfort and encouragement during times of brokenness.
In her free time, Dr. Santana enjoys, walking, movies, decorating, reading, listening to music, going on fun beach or educational field trips with her family, and meeting friends for lunch.
